Prayerfully reading and reflecting on the Word of God in Sacred Scripture is an important aspect of the mature Catholic Christian life. To some, fostering this practice of reading the Bible can seem a daunting and overwhelming task. Bible studies are one way in which we can grow in our understanding of Sacred Scripture within the context of community.
Adult Bible Study Groups
St. Monica has two general Adult Bible Study Groups which meet weekly to study the Word of God in Scripture, every Fall through Spring. One group meets on Tuesday evenings and the other meets on Wednesday mornings.
The Great Adventure: The Bible Timeline
Both of our Adult Bible Study Groups are excited to be exploring the Story of Salvation using The Great Adventure Bible Timeline course. Reading the Bible should bring us closer to Christ, but understanding it is often difficult. The good news is that you can understand the Bible, and The Bible Timeline makes it easy! Presenter Jeff Cavins shows you how fourteen of the Bible’s narrative books tell the biblical story from beginning to end and gives you the keys to understanding the amazing story woven throughout Scripture. The Bible Timeline divides the Bible into twelve color-coded time periods that make it easier to follow its narrative thread. Using a unique color-coded chart, you will learn the major people, places, and events of the Bible and discover how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our faith. Registrations fees cover the cost of the the current course materials, shipping, taxes, and small administrative costs. Financial aid is available to cover these if you are unable to afford the cost. Follow the instructions provided in the registration form.
