Welcome to St. Monica’s Faith Formation program, a friendly community of elementary age children growing strong in faith and in authentic love for the Lord! It is our joy and mission to share the treasure of the Gospel as well as our rich Catholic tradition with the next generation. We are pleased to offer Augustine Institute’s Word of Life curriculum to help students form a steadfast, reasoned Christian mindset and to live, and trust, in the peace of Our Lord, daily. Our program year runs September thru May, concurrent with the Mercer Island School District calendar closures.
Elementary Faith Formation (2025-2026)
Registration for our 2025-2026 program year is open! Classes for grades 1-5 begin on September 28, and are held on Sundays at 10AM, at St. Monica Church.
- Grade 1: 1st Grade is the prerequisite year for our First Holy Communion Sacramental Preparation program (which takes place in 2nd Grade). Registration for 1st Grade closes on October 5.

Preparation for 1st Communion & 1st Reconciliation
This is a 2-year program - The prerequisite year consists of year in Faith Formation or Catholic School (1st Grade). The second year consists of the First Communion class concluding with the First Communion Mass (2nd Grade). Classes begin on September 29, 2024, at 10AM. Registration closed.

Knights of Columbus - Coats For Kids
Coats for Kids is a Knights of Columbus sponsored program where Councils across the country purchase winter coats for children in need. The Supreme Council matches the quantity of coats ordered by each Council. Using funds from the tip bowls at the Italian Dinner, in addition to other Council funds, our St. Monica Knights ordered 6 cases of coats. This winter they were able to distribute more than 144 coats to children who needed them. The Knights look forward to hosting more events and supporting more charitable causes in the coming year!
